History of Midwest Pipelines

Midwest was originally established in 1974 near Regina, Saskatchewan, beginning with facility construction before expanding into pipeline construction. Over the following four decades, the company evolved through a series of mergers and transitions involving public entities, while strategically relocating operations to the Edmonton region to better serve Western Canada’s growing energy sector.

Throughout the 1990s and into the early 2000s, Midwest solidified its reputation as a mid- to large-diameter pipeline contractor, delivering complex projects across Western Canada. In 2007, the company was acquired and rebranded following a sale.

In April 2012, the Midwest name was reintroduced under new ownership and leadership. Since that time, Midwest Pipelines has re-established itself as a leader in pipeline technology and construction, achieving sustained growth and earning recognition as one of the region’s premier pipeline contractors.

Today, Midwest Pipelines is guided by an executive and operational management team with more than 160 years of combined experience in pipeline construction, project management, pipeline integrity, and specialty fabrication. This depth of expertise has been developed through the successful delivery of projects throughout Canada and internationally, positioning Midwest as a trusted and capable partner in the energy infrastructure sector.
